Sports and Animal Instincts

Sports and Animal Instincts Sports fields are the new battle fields of the civilized world. Nations and Cultures clash with each other to prove their supremacy, be it Olympics, or World cups for various sports. The Animal instinct in us wants us to compete and win, as if we are in a hunt. It is the same adrenalin rush. Winning the medal/trophy is akin to a successful kill, for predators, a kill means food. If this sounds terrible to our Human psyche, let’s pat our backs by adding, Human nature brings sportsman spirit, healthy competition and fair play in sports. And yes Humans add entertainment to sports too, we love to have fun out of any competition. Let’s understand the connection between ‘killer instinct’ and ‘winning’. First let’s look at it from the Animal perspective. Take example of Lions, Chimps, Crocs, Cheetahs- all predators. They got to get out and kill to feed themselves and feed the cubs. When one does that almost every other day then it becomes a way of life, it...

Leadership and Animal Instincts

Leadership and Animal Instincts Human beings are social Animals like Lions, Chimps, Elephants, Hyenas, and Crocs. Like Humans - wild Animals have their own social structures, their own hierarchy, their own leaders, some times second in commands and always their own territories. If we think our nation as our territory and our people as our own larger herd OR at a smaller scale, if we think of our town as our territory and our town people as our herd, then like alfa males/females in Animals, there must be the leader of all the people involved here. In the modern world he is the politician who has been democratically elected to lead us. He/she is your President, Prime Minister, Senator, Minister, Member of the Parliament, Sheriff, and so on. If leadership is present in both Animals and Humans, it is an Animal instinct. Remember we have discussed that when I tried to define Animal instincts. ‘If it is found in both Humans and Animals it is an Animal instinct’. We are trying to...

Relationships and Animal Instincts

Relationships and Animal Instincts. Relationships are beautiful and they are one of the reasons why life is so interesting and enjoyable. We are social Animals and relationships make our existence complete [?]. Relationships in Human beings are refined, profound, meaningful and multidimensional. While in Animals, relationships are pretty primitive and basic. That does not mean we undermine or disrespect relationships in Animals. From their perspective, from their logic, from their instincts, those relationships are perfect [If at all there is something called perfect] for them. There are a few, basic kind of relationships in Human or Animal societies. They are Mother-Child [Maternal Love] Father-Child [Paternal Love], Male-Female [Romantic Love][ Sexual for Animals], Male-Female [Brother-Sister Love], Male-Male [Brotherly love or Friendship, ], Female-Female [Sisterly love or Friendship]. There are more complex relationships too, but let’s skip that because that will lead us t...
